I’ve decided to keep track of the growth progress of my existing roses that I pruned and create a 2014 pruning diary for them. These are the photos taken last August 3 2014, five weeks since I’ve pruned the roses.
Pope John Paul II
First up is Pope John Paul II. As of this photos, I’ve counted twenty-seven buds that have sprouted out. I repeat, that 27 sprouted buds in total for this rose. Well it helps that I left 8 stems when I pruned it. This is one rose that I’m excited to see in bloom.
Just Joey
Next up is Just Joey which has thirteen buds sprouting.
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch
This rose has sixteen buds out now and what’s even better is that the buds are in all levels of the stems. Up and down it has buds which will hopefully mean a fuller look plant later on with blooms up and the the plant.
Baronne Edmond De Rothschild
This one has the least buds so far with only eleven, hopefully it will have some more later on as otherwise it will look kind sparse as this rose is the one that I have with the widest shaped structure.
William Shakespeare 2000
Last we have a David Austin rose which has thirteen buds all at the very tips of the stems. However, what I can’t capture here are numerous pinpoint swellings all over the stems that will hopefully sprout out later on.
The next update will be their growth after another 2 weeks.
