These are the photos taken on June 22 2014, which is six weeks since I’ve planted the roses.
Bareroot Roses
All the bareroot roses are now growing very well – noticeable stem and leaf growth can be seen on all the bareroot roses.
In terms of stem growth, Nahema is the one that had the most obvious growth, seems it wants to start climbing already.
Both the growth of Jubilee Celebratin and Soeur Emmanulle are steady, some stem growth and some leaf growth.
Firefighter on the other hand is growing in the different way, not much stem growth or more leaves coming out, what’s happening is that the leaves look to be maturing, becoming greener and thicker.
Potted Roses
At this stage, the potted roses still have not really grown much. Honey Bouquet is still continuing to put out some leaves (albeit small ones).
Valencia on the other hand seemed to have stopped growing and it’s showing some signs of blackspot on the leaves. I can’t really blame it as the position I’ve put it in doesn’t really get any sunlight now.
The spot where I planted it has the most sunlight variation betweek winter and summer – greater than 5 hours of direct sun during summer, less than 2 hours of sun in winter and due to the lower height of the rose now, this 2 hours will only reach the top 2 inches.
It would be interesting to see how it grows when the sun starts to reach it more.
The next update will be their growth after another 2 weeks.
